Math and literacy centers are a daily tool used in my classroom as a means to provide enrichment and intervention (where needed) to every student in my classroom. Students are engaged in hands-on activities that are an extension of the lesson taught. They often use manipulatives, but many times, the centers are printed (and laminated) material, which is usually seasonally themed. Unfortunately, these centers are printed in black and white because our school does not offer an option to print in color.
A color printer will drastically improve engagement and connection to the theme during small group/independent learning.
My students will be able to clearly see the colored pictures or words printed on the material, which will enhance their learning. Materials in color will also cause less distraction from students asking what is exactly printed on the materials.
I have seen how much more effective learning becomes when materials are printed in color, as opposed to black and white. This project will help strengthen my students' learning by simply viewing materials in color.
