I think that by having my students read Esperanza Rence (Esperanza Rising) that they will experience the pleasure of a novel. This will be a project that I will hopefully begin in January 2021 when my district, Metro Nashville Public Schools, returns to in-person learning. Most of my AP Spanish students did not select virtual learning for the spring semester. I think that teenagers in today's world need the opportunity to emphasize with characters. Especially, strong characters like Esperanza, that will teach my students that you can never give up.
