Learning while in a pandemic has presented itself with unique challenges. For example, we can no longer do small group teaching while maintaining social distancing. We have had to get creative in how we use classroom space while staying safe and healthy. Flexible seating is more important now than ever. Students are required to stay at their tables for the greater part of the day and that does not allow for much movement. When working in small groups, my students have been working on the floor so that they can be close to me, but also keep six feet apart. These lap desks will be extremely helpful when students are working with me on the floor. They will have a place to comfortably set their materials while they follow along with the lesson. The lap desks will also help students who are growing tired of sitting at their chair throughout the day and offer them flexible seating opportunities.
