This year speech and language therapy looks very different for my striving students. They have done all they can to push through, despite setbacks and drastic changes to their learning platforms. The use of an iPad will open up endless opportunities to create hands-on, customizable and engaging learning experiences while bridging all of our new online learning platforms. This technology will help reach both my students in school and online through interactive materials (e.g., e-books, bilingual educational/speech therapy resources, audio and visual live interaction), which can be geared to each individual need of my elementary and middle school students. "Technology will not replace great teachers but technology in the hands of great teachers can be transformational." - George Couros The use of an iPad will help maintain communication and collaboration with teachers and student families via the different online communication tools used by our school community. An iPad will drastically help in the day-to-day tasks of creating lessons, providing back to back virtual and in person therapy sessions, digitally tracking individualized student data, pushing in to classrooms and traveling between school buildings. Learning while sitting in front of a screen can become very difficult and disengaging. With the use of an OSMO document camera, my students can virtually see the same motivating materials they use in school (manipulative, toys, books) come to life. The document camera allows my students to see me use materials and provide live feedback. Many of my students desire to be back in our classrooms. With the help of this technology, my students can experience live and interactive lessons that make virtual learning effective and engaging. The possibilities are endless for my students with access to this kind of technology!
