Mindful Practices and Movement for My School Community

Thank you for your generous donation to support my participation in the Breathe for Change program. I began this journey in January and have spent the last 8 months learning how I can positively impact my school community through incorporating wellness, social emotional learning and yoga.

Through this training, I had the opportunity to teach yoga to both adults and children. Incorporating mindful movement may increase focus, decrease stress and promote relaxation.

I presented to educators about the importance of utilizing mindfulness tools for themselves so they are able to implement them easily in the classroom. These consisted of mindful movement, breath, gratitude, visualization, and goal setting.

A mindful minds club was started where students had the opportunity to spread kindness by organizing community service projects. We are in the process of selling shirts to support children who have a cancer diagnosis.
