In a world where virtual learning has become the new norm, students need engaging and effective instruction. In order to carryout this daunting task, I am requesting a device that can keep up with my instructional pace. It is clear how ineffective instruction becomes when your device cannot keep up with the demand. The school provided Chromebooks are not equipped to handle all of the things we need to accomplish for our students. Providing an environment where lessons, skills, and instruction translates has become desperately essential. A new computer will grant me the opportunity and capability to craft, organize, and carry out highly engaging, creative and interactive lesson plans. Streaming videos, interactive presentations, review games, and music are all facets that enrich instruction, but now, these have become the basis of engaging for instruction. The ability to split the screen in order to see our students while presenting also allows me to ensure students are on task. Our school has asked that we use multiple platforms to facilitate remote learning when download capabilities are slow, instruction becomes ineffective and worse, inefficient. The amount of "downtime" it takes for a website, link, or assignment to load for students, or grade for teachers, has stressed the infrastructure of education. It can take a few hours to grade one activity for a single class, or a few minutes in class, and with virtual instruction mandating shorter class periods, every second matters. I would also like to model think-alouds, story annotations, grammar rules, and collaborative work, which are all regular and expected features in the realm of education. Having a device that is fully functioning will smooth all road blocks and refocus instruction on what matters: the students.
