  • Laminating Creates Long Lasting Memories

    Funded Nov 29, 2023

It is because of your help and support that gave my students and myself the opportunity to build lasting memories together through the teaching and learning process. The laminating machine you helped us with, helped us to create manipulative for reading that even students coming after them will be able to use.

We were able to safely make permanent handouts that are used during our small group reading time. I know we will continue use the machine as we continue the art of learning and for that we want to say thank you!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Clarke-Larmond

  • Cheers to the Chairs!

    Funded Aug 18, 2023

The students were super excited when I first told them I have something for them to put over the back of their chairs. They kept asking what is it, what is it? I unboxed them in front of them and their eyes opened wide as they ask the question how does that work. I then walked over to a student's chair and put one over it. The students were amazed and started asking for theirs. Each student got one for their chair and they placed all the daily needs in them such as their notebooks, crayons, pencils, eraser and anything else they considered important for the teaching learning process. These chair organizers have been working with helping my students be organized and having all their things in one place and easily accessible. Thank you again for your continued support.”

    With gratitude,

  • Picking Up Where We Left Off

    Funded Jan 7, 2023

My students get excited at the sight of a brown sealed box being dragged into the classroom. I cannot explain the level of excitement that rose in my classroom when the supplies came and we were unpacking. We used these resources effectively during the teaching and learning processes and particularly during our small group instructions.

Because the supplies were mostly geared towards having the students and classroom organized, there was not a particular project that was carried out so to speak. The materials were used and and cared for by the students so much that some of those same materials will be utilized for the upcoming school year for another set of students. I look forward to engaging in more practical activities or projects so that I will have more photos to share in the future.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Clarke-Larmond

  • Make Reading a Cultural Experience

    Funded Oct 28, 2020

This experience of having to work remotely and face-to-face has given me the opportunity to expose my students to different countries through read alouds that were done using the books you contributed/donated. For that I want to say a big thank you. The students were eager to hear more and more about the different countries each time a book was presented to them. Most of my teaching was done remotely and therefore the books were read to them by me but that still did not take away from the level of interest they showed towards the content. Again, I want to say THANK YOU for helping me to make the experience possible through reading!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Clarke-Larmond

Being a teacher from a country that is often times spoken about but can hardly be identified on the map; I saw it imperative to teach my students about where I am from and where others are from. I wish to give my students the experience of other countries with the little experience they might have had just leaving their state and having never left their country. With the use of these books I will be able to broaden their knowledge of what other places has to offer. These books selected can be used both at home and school and therefore I thought they would be great materials to use in building my students reading interests and global experience.
