  • Materials for My Students in Bushwick, Brooklyn

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

My students and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your thoughtfulness and generosity. Your support plays a vital role in enhancing students' educational experiences and giving them the access they need to basic materials such as pencils, calculators and tissues.

Within our 6th grade accelerated math course, we touch upon 7th grade math topics such as ratios and proportions and equations. As the numbers get more complex, calculators are needed to solve advanced problems. Thank you for giving the students access to being able to solve rigorous mathematics problems. They have shown such excitement using the calculators and are handling them responsibly so students in the future may use and appreciate them as well.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Burgos

  • Give 6th Graders Resources in Color!

    Funded Jun 26, 2023

I thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. Your thoughtfulness has given students resources to learn Accelerated 6th Grade Math topics. With the materials provided, I have been able to support neurodivergent learners who benefit from materials printed in color and larger fonts. Many of my 6th graders are visual learners who benefit from bright, color coded learning materials. They have become more engaged because these learning resources are now available to them in color!

This project has also given me the opportunity to showcase my students' strengths and abilities by creating a Star Scholar bulletin board. With these printed materials, I am celebrated my students' success and am awarding certificates to honor their progress and growth.

I want to thank you for your generous donations and kind messages. My students and I are so appreciative of the supplies and materials you have provided for our classroom!

Your contribution to my classroom has made a world of a difference and I am so grateful!”

    With gratitude,

  • Resources for Brooklyn 5th Graders

    Funded Oct 31, 2020

I want to thank you for your generous donations and kind messages. My students and I are so appreciative of the supplies and materials you have provided for our classroom! With these supplies, I have been able to further their learning by providing hand-out materials, notebooks for better note-taking and folders to create portfolios of their work throughout the year.

Students often need differentiated work, and having a printer within the classroom has made it possible to print out visual resources, articles and even graphic organizers to help support students' learning. The students have been most excited about having images and key information on printouts provided in color. Many of them are visual learners and benefit from bright, color coded learning materials. They have become more engaged because these learning resources are now available to them in color!

If you have a free moment, please check out the thank-you notes and cards the students created. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your contribution to my classroom has made a world of a difference and I am so grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Burgos

These materials will make a difference in my students' learning by allowing them exposure to additional informational and image related resources. Additionally, students spend a lot of their learning time copying charts, graphs, and models. The requested supplies would be extremely useful to make sure most of the students' time is spent learning and inquiring, rather than copying. A printer, paper, and ink have been requested to better provide students with in-class handouts such as images and graphs as well as take-home resources. Materials such as folders and notebooks will be used to create student portfolios and journals to give students opportunities to express themselves as well as to preserve their work.
