Engaging Math Students Through Notes
Funded Mar 25, 2025Thank you soo much for your support to engage math students in notes. Your resources are greatly appreciated. I will be updating you with pictures of the notes we create. Thank you for making a difference in the math education given to my algebra 1 and geometry students. Thank you.”

Funded Aug 20, 2024Thank you for your support to create more engaging algebra and geometry lessons. During my daily lessons I have students use the pencils and glue sticks. Attached you can see a picture of the notes that students glue into their notebook. I have found that my students are more engaged with they have access to guided notes. Furthermore, students have enjoyed using the post-it graphs to learn the topics of graphing lines and transformations. I have enjoyed the flexibility and engagement available to my students. Checking for understand and collaboration is very important for me.
I would like to share an specific activity I used for these resources. I wanted geometry students to check if they knew the difference between reflections, rotations and translations. I had them work in pair and gave each 3 post-its, one per topic. I projected the problem on the screen and gave them 10 minute to try all three. When the timer was done students posted their answer on either poster 1,2,or 3. I took a picture of each poster and projected on the screen. We were able to identify common misconceptions and how many pairs understood each transformation. It was very exciting for the students to see their post-it to their classmates and see if they got it right. Even more exciting was when students realized that their classmates also had the same misunderstanding and it was not just them. Thank you for helping me make this happen in my classroom.
Lastly, I would like to thank for one the most powerful tool in my classroom, a pencil. Mathematics can be intimidating to some of my students and they are sometimes prone to behaviors of avoidance. The most common statement of avoidance is I cannot do the work because I do not have a pencil. Thankfully with your support I am able to intervene with their avoidance and provide them with a pencil before they get distracted. Thank you for your help. I promise to continue using these tools to the fullest to help my students find the joy in mathematics.”

Funded Mar 28, 2022Thank you for all the class materials donated. It was exciting to see that students did not hesitate to ask for a pencil to solve math problems. In addition, they used tools like the rulers to create straight line. Students were unsure of graphing linear equations in the form of y=mx+b. Thankfully, we had the rulers to use to empower them when connecting points.
I am thankful to be able to offer them a pencil thanks to your help. Thank you for providing with the tools to engage in their learning.”

Enhancing and Increasing Student Engagement With an iPad Pro
Funded Jan 1, 2021First, I would like to thank everyone that helped to fund my project. Having an Ipad as a teaching tool during remote learning has been extremely helpful. For instance, I can now go over a math problem and use the app loom to record the Ipad screen. Furthermore, I have found that writing with the Ipad pencil has made my teaching easier because it feels like I am writing with a regular pencil. Students can now read my writing more clearly compared when I struggled to write with the computer mouse. In addition, I have been able to use a Ipad notes app to make my notes more interactive and detailed. I can now use different colors and highlight important details for my visual letters. Furthermore, my learners that need more time to understand a topic can always go back to my PowerPoint lesson and rewatch the video I prerecorded for each example.
In addition, I have been able to install other applications such as zoom, canvas, and google products. I feel like now even though I am teaching from home the Ipad provides me with soo many resources I can share during the zoom meeting. For instance, when we are reviewing for an exam I connect to zoom and share my screen. The goal during reviews is for my students to ask me for help with as many problems as possible. Before having the Ipad, I tried solving math problems with the computer mouse or showing my whiteboard on the camera and students seemed to have trouble reading or seeing my writing. Now they can clearly see my writing and it is soo comfortable to write with the apple pen. Also, grading has become easier and efficient. The school where I work uses Canvas and Canvas has an Ipad app. Now I do not have to wait for pictures of my students' work to download because they open automatically using the app.
Once again, thank you helping fund this project. It has made teaching math online soo much more fun and productive. I look forward to learning about more Ipad apps that can help me with my improve my teaching.”
