Self-Contained Classroom Needs Comfortable Seats and Sensory Toys
Funded Sep 2, 2021My students and I are so grateful for your donation! On the first day of school, we introduced where the Calm Corner was in our classroom and how and when we could use the sensory toys in it. My twelve little ones were all thrilled. They learn to identify their negative feelings and learn to require to take a break and to manage their emotions with the help of sensory toys in the Calm Corner. All of my students have utilized the Calm corner to calm themselves down. Some of them are allowed to have Play-Doh in hands in order to focus on class.
Each of my students was able to choose a colorful and comfortable cushions to sit on.
The multiple use of the cushions help students focus on tasks in groups. They are paired working on math projects, reading buddies, or pair-assessment for writing pieces. Moreover, when it is instructional time, my students concentrate more on lessons with soft and comfortable cushions on their chairs or on the floor.
Currently, we are working on personal narrative stories, and my students have done the first draft. We will have a celebration when everyone finishes their stories. Each of them will read their stories to their partners and compliment each other's work. We will certainly have our audience sit on comfortable cushions and cheer for their friends.
Thank you again for what you did for our classroom and our students!”

Visual Learners Need to See to Learn!
Funded Dec 17, 2020I am so grateful for your generosity and kindness! Because of this pandemic, the class I am working with is all fully remote at home including my small group of 2 or 3. They are visual learners as I am; therefore, it was difficult for me to model and explain math problems step by step. I had to write everything down on my notebook and show them via my laptop screen, but they were not able to see how I modeled step-by step. Besides it was not clear for them to see. The Apple pencil and the keyboard enable me to demonstrate as if I were in the classroom, and my students are able to see me writing on the screen when I reteach how to solve math problems on Google Meets. I have two devices on to deliver a live session on Google meets, one is my laptop for having eye contact with my students, and my I-pad for sharing screen to model with Apple pencil and the keyboard. My students were as excited as I was when I first used Apple pencil and the keyboard, and they told me that it was cool and they were able to copy down the example then solve the similar problems by themselves. They all received a better grade in post-assessment of division unit. Thank you again for helping my students and me!”
