  • A Well-organized Classroom Is Essential for Learning!

    Funded Sep 9, 2024

Thank you so much for your support to my classroom of 32 fourth graders! Our classroom now is well organized and social emotional learning supported environment for students to focus on learning. We have a bilingual labeled library, a calm corner with a comfy bean bag, and a take-home zip log book baggie for each students. In addition, we labeled almost all the items bilingually in our classroom. All school supplies and academic materials are easy to reach for our young English language learners.

Out of all the donations you kindly made to my classroom, I would like to share one moment. One of our young English learners was upset about not finishing homework because he was unable to log in his laptop at home. I asked him to go to the calm corner sitting in the bean bag. It took him a few minutes to calm down and talk with me. After that, he loves sitting in the bean bag at the calm corner. He told me that he felt like he was home.

We cannot thank you enough for what you have done for my students and classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ying

  • First Language Positively Affects English Language Learning!

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

My students were thrilled when they saw the new addition of our classroom library! I wish you could all see their brightened smiles! They checked out all the bilingual books on the day when they just arrived. Not only do English learners were enthusiastic to read books in their first language, but the rest of the class were also eager to check the bilingual books out, to my surprise. I have always known that first language acquisition plays a crucial role in the second language acquisition because of my own English language learning experience. But I have never thought that bringing a bilingual library to my classroom can influence the English-dominant students. They all want to learn their friends' language and culture. As an educator, I am so proud of my students who have become good citizens by appreciating diversity in our classroom. Thank you so much for funding this project! Your donation and kindness have made such a great difference in my classroom! We are so grateful for what you have been doing for us! Thank you again!”

  • Materials for Literacy Center!

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

It has been a great school year so far with your support and kindness! We have accomplished so much; for example, most of the young English Language learners in my class have shown tremendous growth in I-Ready mid year assessment. They started speaking English more and more and grow more interested in all subjects. They are eager to learn and motivated. I can't stop talking about how much I am proud of them. These photos only showed the little tip of the iceberg.

In addition, the bilingual books are the most popular items among bilingual students. They borrowed the books every day and did the reading log. Now they are asking for more bilingual books to read at home or in the classroom.

Thank you so much for your generosity! You have made a difference in our classroom! We really appreciate it.”

  • Hooray! Here We Come, 2023-2024!

    Funded Oct 13, 2023

I am so grateful for what you have done for my classroom and my lovely students. We have been using the materials since we received them. My students were so excited to learn phonics and multiplications in classes with jumbo magnetic letters and abacuses. With the help of abacuses, my students were able to use various strategies to do multiplication problems, such as make arrays, equal groups, and repeated addition. The visual and manipulative aides helped them understand the concepts and enable them to utilize. Moreover, the jumbo magnetic letters are so popular during phonics instruction. They are able to tell the difference between uppercase and lowercase letters by comparing them and sound out and build words. These materials have been such a great help. Thank you again for your generosity ! We really appreciate it!”

  • Math Manipulatives Enhance Learning for Children With Special Needs!

    Funded Sep 10, 2022

I am writing to express how much my students and I are grateful for your donation to our classroom. The math manipulative you donated has played a very important role in our math lessons. So far, we have learned place value charts for second graders and multiplication tables for third graders. Our second graders are able to set up the place value chart, show two or three digits numbers, add with regrouping by themselves. By giving students opportunities to manipulate the chart, they are able to understand the concept of expanded forms of numbers and then do addition problems with regrouping. Meanwhile, our third graders are learning multiplication tables with Pop-it of 12 times 12 multiplications. They are able to memorize and complete worksheet by themselves with the Pop-it multiplication tables. In all, my class is beneficial from these wonderful math manipulative since they are all motivated and interested in learning math. Thank you again for your generosity from my students and me! What you did had made so much difference!”

  • My Students Need a Writing Tool to Present!

    Funded Feb 22, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity to support my classroom during this challenging year right after Pandemic. My students have lost a lot of productive instructions last year and came back to the classroom with full force this school year. It is necessary for me to make our classroom a place where young children are motivated with new knowledge and updated technology.

After Pandemic, the classroom instruction has never ever been the same as it was before. There is a large of number of technology involved in teaching and classwork; therefore, my class has implicated with technology in daily instruction.

My students were so excited to use the electronic writing pad to solve math problems in the front of the classroom, do presentation, and model as a teacher at the very first time. They were all motivated and actively participated in the activities where the writing pad were used. Hence, what you did for my classroom really boosted their interests in learning. Thank you again! Both my students and I appreciate it.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ying

  • Reinforce Learning via Anchor Charts

    Funded Feb 14, 2022

Thank you for your donation to my classroom! Since the Post-It Sticky Easel Pads and colorful markers came, my students have been so excited to use the easel pads to work on their group projects that our classroom is covered with their writing everywhere. For example, the very recent group project is to find multiple ways to show the same amount of money. Each group has to figure out as many ways as possible to show 54 cents on one page of pad. My students worked very hard. They discussed with their partners, agreed and disagreed with each other's answer, drew on the pad to show their mathematical thinking, and at the end, they were very proud to stick their work on the wall.

I also found that the big easel pad helps motivate Special Ed children to learn. One child in my class who is unable to count to 100. I asked him to make a 100-chart with me on the big easel pad. Additionally, I allowed him to use any color of markers he likes to write. He was so excited that he successfully finished the 100 chart all by himself and asked me to take it home to his mom. He was very proud of himself and has built up his confidence. Both I and my students are so thankful for your donation!”

  • Students Need to Hear Me Loud and Clear!

    Funded Jan 31, 2022

I am so grateful for your support to my classroom. The mics are so useful in our daily instructional time. During Fundation lessons, we have one student in the front leading the rest to practice phonemes or reading aloud the story on the Smart board. Meanwhile, the teacher is teaching and modeling. Everyone in the class is more attentive and listens to the teachers more clearly. Students are also very excited to be wired up with Mic to lead the whole class reading out loud. They are motivated to participate in all kinds of class activities.

Thank you so much for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ying
