  • Reading at My Level

    Funded Nov 5, 2020

We are so so appreciative of our new leveled reading center! It is such a great addition to our class library. The 1st graders here at Spann have been able to use these books during independent reading time where they can build their fluency in reading with books they love! The stands are a great way to display them and give the students easy access to the books that they really need! The greatest thing about the leveled readers is that, throughout the year, we can slowly add higher levels due to the studnets progressing in their reading. Thank you so much for your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Slade

Last year, our curriculum books were shoved away in cubbies. The students were not able to easily access them and read them on their free time. Having the stands, will allow them to have access to their reading books at all times. The I Can Read books will allow them to read on their own levels and at their own pace, helping to build confidence in reading as well as instilling that passion and hunger to read. I feel that reading at the appropriate ZPD range is crucial to molding a fluent reader.
