Having more flexibility in seating and the arrangement of tables allows the students to work more efficiently with their peers during collaboration times in the classroom. Throughout the day they are currently assigned a seat in the classroom, but giving them the opportunity to be more flexible with seating, they can choose who and where to work. I've noticed great differences in my students when they are given choices. They seem to be more actively engaged in our lessons and when working with their peers.
The tables I have selected will help create a classroom that is flexible to the students learning. The Cob tables will allow students to work in small group, move around the room easily when needed and give the students the autonomy to be more engaged in their learning. They can also be used to differentiate groups when needed.
I have seen how choices in classroom seating affects students and how they perform and hope that this will help students take ownership in their learning.
