Supplies for Music-Making in the Rutherford Orchestra!
Funded Jan 19, 2024THANK YOU for your generosity in funding our recent Rutherford Orchestra Project! Students were so excited to receive the new shoulder rest sponges and rosin - they had the biggest smiles on their faces! We had been sharing rosin for a bit, and it was a special moment to have everyone receive their very own supplies.
Shoulder rests provide the necessary support of holding up the violin and viola on a student's shoulder when they play. Correct technique is impossible without them, and the absence of this crucial item can cause neck & back issues. Every student now has a properly fitted sponge for their instrument and technique is improving already!
Rosin is used on the orchestra bows to allow for a stronger and more full sound. Our orchestra is producing a loud and beautiful tone with the addition of our new rosin. Both of these new supplies will help students have even MORE success at our upcoming concert. Thank you again for your support! ”

Violin for a Student-in-need to Participate in Orchestra!
Funded Aug 27, 2023The contribution you made towards my classroom at Rutherford Elementary School has made SUCH a positive impact on our students! One of our young musicians has had the opportunity to learn a musical instrument this year with the addition of our beautiful new 4/4 size Knilling violin. This experience would have been impossible without your generosity!
I wish you could have been there the first moment my student opened up the case of the donated violin - their smile was huge! So far they've learned how to put together and hold the violin, play several songs using pizzicato, and have just started learning the bow. Use of the violin has not only taught them the art of music, but also a new sense of ownership and responsibility.
In the Spring this student will use the donated violin to showcase their hard work in a concert performance for their families. Thank you for sharing the gift of music!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Topping
