My students are the second class of sixth graders in our school's history. They are the first to start a school year with us. Since our students were not in the building until March of last year, I was not able to build our class library. My students love to read and they enjoy being together, and the Literacy Lounge is the perfect way to get high- interest books in their hands in a comfortable area in our classroom. This project will help to not only build our library, it will also help the students build their reading stamina and hone their writing skills, as well. Now that our students are back in the building full time, I want to provide them with a beautiful and comfortable space to read, write, and build friendships.
