High School Varsity BBQ is real. Help us continue to make this statewide competition an opportunity for our inner-city youth. Along with soft skills, our students learn sanitation and food service industry standards as they learn to cook indoors and outdoors as we gear up for the 2021-2022 school year competitions. From learning to grill and slow smoking foods, barbecue in the south is not just about cooking but continuing a larger cultural tradition that builds community. For most of our students in the inner-city accessibility to a variety of foods is limited in comparison to fast food selection. It is our hope to continue to teach our youth to be self sustainable and teach the life skill of cooking and culinary arts to widen the opportunity to access to more home cooked and wider array of foods. From trimming to food selection our students benefit by learning agricultural origins and processing that is too many times deleted from the consumer knowledge. Help us continue to teach youth about where their food comes from, how we prepare it and how food can bring communities together.
