Sublimation Station
Funded Aug 15, 2023The students were overjoyed when introduced to our new materials that you graciously provided! As soon as the project was funded and I explained the possibilities they were ready to begin creating. We have spent this semester learning how to create digitally and testing our sublimation abilities.
Our first sublimation project was customizing classroom aprons. I ordered a set of white polyester aprons for students to use while painting and opened a competition where students were able to create designs to be sublimated onto the aprons. This competition got students invested and gave participates a feeling a ownership within the art room. My students are very excited about all of the possibilities moving forward, and so am I!”

Funded Oct 4, 2023Thank you, thank you, thank you! This project allowed us SO MUCH freedom with digital arts in the art room. Because of your generous donations students are able to draw digital art, learn about photoshop, and much more. These have been a huge asset to us in art class and students LOVE having the opportunity to learn about these things that they may not have access to outside of the classroom. This has also allowed me to get more bang for my buck out of the adobe suite I pay for, I love being able to teach real life skills to students through these materials because they are living in a digital world, they need to have the skills to go along side that.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The Allstate Foundation and 2 other donors.Digital Art Corner
Funded Sep 15, 2023Your donation of Wacom art tablets and a Cricut heat press have been so loved and appreciated! We are very excited to combine the materials from this project and from "Sublimation Station" to create shirts and aprons to support the arts department here at Conway Junior High School.
The Wacom tablets have been a huge hit with students as they are very fascinated with digital arts. They love having this opportunity in the classroom to learn and grow using tools they do not have access to at home. In addition to the students' excitement, I have had parents reach out excited about them being able to experience digital art and sharing their own ideas for creation as well.
Our first order of business with the tablets was creating art to be sublimated onto our art class aprons using our heat press. This allows students to experience ownership in our classroom art studio in a way they have not before.
Thank you.”

Funded Apr 7, 2023Tie dying is the Big Bang that ends the year in Visual Arts I for me each and every year. It never fails to be a huge hit with all students and creates a buzz of excitement!
I was able to unbox these materials with my 7th period class and they were just as excited as I was to see all of the high quality dying that were donated to us. Students brought in teeshirts, pillow cases, handkerchiefs, anything they wanted to be able to dye. Before dying we had the opportunity to learn all about the history of dying and shibori. Students then did their own research to find the design they wanted to create for their items before prepping it to go in the vat.
Thank you so much for donating these materials that I typically buy out of my own pocket.”

Paper Making
Funded Feb 8, 2023I can not express my thanks enough. All of my students loved the paper making experience and it gave me the opportunity to teach sustainability as we reused our paper scraps saved from throughout the year.
The excitement began when the shipment of our goodies arrived! I love unboxing materials in front of the class and explaining the use of each object. They also love being present for the unboxing! Anticipation was high for weeks until I finally taught the paper making lesson. They dived in head first, excited to take something old and make it brand new again!
I sincerely hope this is an experience they will never forget and I am excited to use the non-consumable materials for years to come.”

Projects & Prizes
Funded Jan 28, 2022Thank you all so much for your generous donations. It is because of you we were able to end the 2021-2022 school year with a bang. Students were awarded amazing prizes, created beautiful artwork, and learned so many new skills. Students were so excited to learn about fiber arts through the batik process. Pen and ink students were thrilled to up the ante by adding brush pens in with their collections of sharpies, ballpoints, and traditional calligraphy pens.
Thank you for giving me the chance to introduce new materials and fun incentives to my students at Mills.”

Ceramic Supplies
Funded Oct 5, 2021I want to thank you once again for your generosity. My students were so excited to receive all of our amazing ceramic supplies! Before this donation we had no glazes and only reclaim clay. Your donations are going to allow for many students to create amazing works of art. We have already been able to create one project using our brand new slab roller!
Upon our return from spring break we will begin another project that you have made possible. The glazes are still unopened and we are all anxious to test them out on our future flower pots.”

Ms. McMullin
