We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, partner work, flexible seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs (academically, socially, and emotionally) are being met while using technology. The technology that I am requesting includes: two iPads, Osmo kits, and a color printer with ink. These benefit the students because they give the students motivation to learn and are interactive in a different way. Additionally, the Osmo's kits are hands-on and have enrichment activities. Quality color printing is a key asset in a wide range of classroom scenarios — at all educational levels. It can be leveraged to create interactive visual aids for use in the classroom, which helps teachers communicate complex concepts to students. My classroom's priority is to ensure that each student's level is approached with multiple and differentiated instruction, right where they are! These special students all have significant disabilities with low vocal verbal behavior in which it is necessary to make learning fun and engaging. The families of the students I serve struggle financially, so this technology will allow them to use the newest and greatest technology to enhance their learning. Therefore, the excitement and wonder of bringing a tablet into my classroom is going to be priceless. Our school and parish flooded in 2016, which continues to put a financial burden on the families, staff, and school; the entire parish. My students are very excited about adding this technology to our learning day. I'm very passionate about being able to expose and teach my students about technology that many (more privileged) students may take for granted, being exposed to this technology daily. Leveling the playing field helps keep my kids from losing out on experiences and learning that they would otherwise have no experience with.
