It is with great happiness that I offer my thanks for your generous donations! I can confidently walk into my classroom each day knowing I am equipped with the tools needed to help my students succeed.

With your donations, I am able to afford any and all literacy materials needed to help my students become better readers and writers.”

  • Providing Essentials for Tomorrow's Leaders

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Although my students couldn't physically see and touch the impact of your generosity, they have definitely felt it! I have too! I want to say thank you for your generous donations. As a second year, first-time homeroom teacher, the idea of having my own class was terrifying and exhilarating! I have worked so hard in school (and am still working hard) to have my own classroom to influence, inspire and educate. With your donations for my project, I was able to ensure my students' readiness to learn and success from day one.

While some schools in my area (Philadelphia, PA) have started to return to in-person instruction, I will still be teaching virtually. I have included some photos of my home-classroom that I've been teaching from since the beginning of 2021.

My students come to my zoom room excited for the day because they have everything they need to be great for the day. Even if they are missing something, they know they have a resourceful teacher who will make sure to get them what they need!

I am happy and proud to say that my students came to me in August, struggling to read and write, and now with only a few months left, I have students in the 3rd grade reading and writing on a 4th grade level!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Williams

These materials are the foundations to a prepared classroom. Students learn best when they feel safe, comfortable and prepared. These materials can be used for virtual and in-person learning, seeing as though they are necessities that most students need (notebooks, pencils, etc.) If we stay virtual for the remainder of the school year, I am prepared to physically deliver materials to each of my 18 students. As a third grade ELA teacher, I spend most of my instruction time building my students' reading comprehension and writing stamina. While my students are capable of meeting the high expectations I set for them, they will be done a disservice if they don't even have the educational tools they need to show up. Having this project fully funded will help to enrich their skill building in literacy and demolish the opportunity gap so many children in inner city schools face.
