Funded Nov 8, 2024I am SO thankful of your contribution. This will impact my students in ways I cannot even begin to describe! Their education has been given the opportunity to advance with the modern world because of you. They will be ecstatic to know that their drive and creativity has earned this for them! This wouldn’t be possible without you!!

Making Our Mark: Supplies for First Year Teachers
Funded Dec 21, 2020First, I would like to start by thanking you for donating to Making our Mark. Without you, my students would not have been able to create such amazing projects that are full of detail, color and personality.
When we first heard that our project was fully funded, we were ecstatic! That meant no more dried out markers, too small colored pencils, new and exciting color-based projects! My students were so excited. Once the supplies had been delivered to the school, I sent a group of students up to the office to retrieve them and I could see the excitement on their face! They came back to the art room giddy! Immediately I let them tear off the plastic wrap on one box of markers and one box of colored pencils while I stored the rest away. With each class that came every student got excited! Seeing (and hearing) their excitement made my heart so happy. This truly would not have happened without your graciousness.
The next week we got right to work on our Mandalas. Generally speaking, Mandalas are representative of one's culture, personal experiences and one's connection to the world/nature. I teach these to my students to learn about radial balance but also how to use icons to represent ourselves and our interest. We create personal, artistic mandalas and to ensure these were colorful and unique, we needed the right media! After drawing out our grids and icons and carefully planning our mandalas, students began to color. My sixth graders used markers to explore the color wheel and color families while my seventh and eighth graders used colored pencil to explore creating value.
Throughout the year we have used these supplies in a variety of projects from Mandalas to Zentangles, cityscapes and optical illusions. My students are so thankful to be able to use quality supplies to enhance their artwork!
Again, thank you so much for your willingness to donate to my classroom and more importantly - my students' education. We could not have made as much art as we did without you.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Milner
