  • Sensory Education

    Funded Dec 31, 2021

It is with gratitude that I write this letter. Thank you for supporting Class Y21's academic journey and allowing my students' an opportunity to learn pass their sensory needs. I have created a sensory corner that allows my students to take breaks throughout instruction, in order to manage their behaviors while allowing them to gain sensory needs of choice.

When my students first saw the materials being added to their play center and sensory corner, my students were ecstatic to explore their new "toys". There were instant smiles and their behaviors indeed lessened. Once again, I want to thank you for making a change in our classroom management and allowing our students equity while learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Murphy

  • Controlling Negative Behaviors

    Funded Jan 22, 2021

Thank you for your donation to our classroom community!

My students are very grateful for the new resources in the classroom. The moment we got our donations delivered, I allowed my students to unbox the items. The anticipation of seeing what "present" we got and seeing the smiles on their faces when it was unboxed made it worthwhile. Immediately they tested out the mats and rugs. The colors were so vibrant and fun!

One student began exploring the ABC mat and reciting her alphabets. Another student enjoyed relaxing on the yoga mats. Yoga and relaxing sensory music became an everyday routine to wind down our busy days. The colorful table and chairs also are being used in our play center. My students are able to play in the kitchen area and role play being at a restaurant and having a chef and kitchen workers.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Murphy

I am looking for help in purchasing some behavioral management materials that can help my students with disabilities have an effective learning environment. Most of my students are autistic and need frequent breaks throughout their learning process. However, I do not have any materials to assist with behavioral management. It is important that I gain control and understandings of their triggers while incorporating a calming method to gain back the students learning interests. The yoga mats, the rug for our library station, and the alphabet rug will make a difference in my students overall classroom experience. Rather than feeling like a school, let's make them feel as if they are home. Giving them the proper resources to ensure their comfortability. This will open up their minds to communicate effectively and feel loved if given the resources they enjoy.
