Cool Down Corner for Speech!
Funded Sep 23, 2022Thank you again for your generous donations to make my project possible. My students have been loving their new sensory materials. We have been using them to begin/end sessions to promote sensory regulation - which gives us more communication opportunities.
My students were so excited when they saw their new materials. My students love all sensory toys that engage their visual, tactile, and vestibular senses. This makes them feel excited to come to speech and ready to learn. We use the tent and beanbag to cool down, and all of the toys for fun during sessions!
Going forward, we will be integrating more sensory materials into lessons. When students are regulated, they are calm and alert, and in their optimal learning zone. This allows us to have amazing therapy outcomes!”

Sensory Play For Speech and Language!
Funded Sep 23, 2021Thank you so much for helping me fund my project! We have been using ALL of our new materials EVERY DAY in our speech-therapy sessions. We use the room divider every day to omit visual overstimulation! We use the seat discs for sensory input when completing in seat tasks, and the cuddle ball and fidgets to use while completing task to keep us grounded! We also received a TON of toys! My students love to use the sensory bins and sand through various lessons to work on our skills! They also love to play with magna tiles and the mystery box as a reward at the end of the session.
When my students first saw the materials, they appeared excited and eager to play! This was such a special day because I love to see them smile!
Thank you again for contributing to my project! We will be using these for sensory input and play going forward!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Volini

Funded Oct 26, 2020Having an iPad has helped me bring technology into my lessons. My students are able to use AAC that they never had access to, and complete activities in a way that is motivating to them. Since using an iPad in my sessions, my students have made such great progress this year. Having an Apple Pencil has allowed my kids to be creative, 'mark-up' their work, and have assistance to their fine motor skills. This document camera has made a HUGE difference in tele-therapy! While running a lesson, I am able to model AAC devices, give 'gestural' support, and share live materials that I could not do before. My students are SO excited to use technology in their lessons - using an iPad is rewarding in itself, and my student's motivation level has increased.
My AAC students are benefitting from this technology in ways I did not think possible. Being able to model, during tele-therapy, has made a huge impact in helping parents and student's at home - this will maximize their communication!
This pandemic has taken a lot from our students - it is so important to keep things exciting and motivating for them! Technology is very motivating for students, and I am so happy you all helped me fund my project!
My students and I are so grateful!”

Ms. Volini
