My classroom library needs more non-fiction books. I changed grades this year and looped with my students from first grade. Students need a variety of books at various levels to learn about our world. Students learn best through reading independently and mentor-text. I want students to learn our world by engrossing themselves in the pages! My hope is this non-fiction library will be appropriate for my readers in many ways. Along with learning about different topics, students in second grade are learning to write non-fiction books. These books will also provide students with strong author's crafts through many authors. I hope when they write they can demonstrate some writing they've learned through this new library of books!
