  • Junior Scholastic for 6th Grade Middle School

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Thank you so much for funding this project. The students in our school have enjoyed using the magazines, and the digital version of these materials. It has really helped give them a more complete Social Studies education.

We use the magazines to help the students work on reading comprehension and history. They are able to learn about important topics from the past, the present, and even look at issues that will effect them in the future. The stories are high interest and well-written.

We have a very diverse student body here. There are students from more than forty countries around the world. More than twenty languages are spoken in our building every day. These articles show the students how we are all connected in one, large global community. We get to see how the same issues are being deal with on different continents by different governments. It allows them to form their own opinions on who is doing things in a more effective way and how people around the world deal with issues.

We hope you will help fund our project again next year.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Katz

  • Junior Scholastic for Middle School

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

Thank you so much for your generosity. My sixth graders have enjoyed the first two issues of Junior Scholastic. We have used the articles and online resources for discussions and to reinforce the learning we are doing in class. We introduced text structures (maps, charts, graphs, headings, and subheadings). The students were able to learn about some ancient civilizations and the civil rights movement.

Students were in small groups reading articles together and discussing the interesting topics available to them.

We are very lucky to have people who care as much about education as we do and without your generosity, these special opportunities wouldn't occur. Thank you again for your help. We hope to continue this relationship into the future.

    Sincerely,

    Jared Katz
