We have several students with autism spectrum disorder and they need a Covid-Friendly space to go when they feel over stimulated and overwhelmed by the busy energy of the general education classroom. We cleared out a room and put in some items donated by staff such as a bean bag, exercise ball, mini trampoline, and string lights. Students will take breaks in this room by getting out their wiggles, relaxing, or talking with a trusted adult. The items that we're requesting will help provide structure to their sensory breaks and will give them a safe space to work on their strategies with the support of an educator.
