Inside Out and Back Again is one of four novels that our team has chosen to highlight this year in our literary study of diversity. We feel it is vital for every student to have access to quality literature that promotes racial equality and cultural acceptance. Reading this story, and becoming acquainted with diverse characters' points of view and realistic life stories will help our students develop empathy for, and understanding and appreciation of cultures beyond their own experience. Each student will be provided with a novel to keep and use for the duration of the unit. These books can then be collected and utilized with other students in the future.
