Sensory Supports
Funded Mar 1, 2021Thank you so much for bringing such much needed sensory tools to my classroom! My students are loving all of the new items we were able to receive. They were all very excited to explore the newest additions to my classroom.
They enjoy investigating items placed in the discovery bins (including the sensory stones and matching shapes turtles) and they particularly enjoy using the sand trays. Students get to practice drawing lines, shapes, and letters using their fingers. Some get the opportunity to practice identifying emotions and matching emotion eggs to emotion teddy bears.
All of the items have contributed to creating a positive and interactive learning experience for my students. My students and I are very thankful for everyone's generosity!”

Funded Dec 11, 2020I cannot thank you enough for your contribution. Thanks to you, my students are able to enjoy various items when they come to my classroom, such as the couch and the big book storage and easel. When students need a break or want to 'read' a book, they are able to choose to sit on the couch. The storage/easel provided a much-needed home for my large books. They are now in a safe spot and I can display the books to my students with ease. They enjoy looking at and identifying various objects or animals in the pictures. The whiteboard on the front has been beneficial to encouraging more interaction with my students. They truly enjoy drawing on the whiteboard as well - a great tool to work on fine motor skills!
My students do not come to the classroom every day, so they do not always notice when something new is in the room. However, they did notice the couch! They were excited to sit on the couch with Draco, the reading dragon (stuffed animal puppet) and show him books and other objects in our classroom. Having this seating addition in the classroom allowed my students to feel more comfortable in a different environment.
Overall, I have gotten more engagement with students when they were able to relax on the couch or interact on the whiteboard while reading a big book. My next step is to find my sensory supports to meet the various needs of my students, since a few of them require sensory breaks. The couch has been wonderful when they need a break and I hope to add more to it for them. Thank you again for your generosity. My students and I would not have been able to enjoy new items in our classroom without you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Alix
