My students will have the opportunity to take ownership and pride of an item that will serve them academically, creatively, as well as personally. I plan to place an emphasis on Social Emotional Learning and Mindfulness this year in the art classroom as we will be working to mindfully create art that intentionally articulates possible challenging emotions and topics shared by humanity. Students will have the ability to utilize their sketchbooks as personal tools for reflection, healthy coping mechanisms and experimentation. The sketchbooks would be incorporated into daily lessons, as we will explore various themes throughout the art making process that closely relates to their lives around them.
