These materials will be used to do a project that celebrates diversity in the STEM fields. Each student will be able to design an object and print it using the 3D printers. The first project we do will be called STEM Influencers and will help each student connect personally with the diversity of those who have led the way in STEM. First, I will have each student pick some one who exemplifies diversity in STEM fields to research. Next, they will do a report on that individual that focuses on their unique contributions to STEM. We will use the IF/THEN database to find and research individuals so we are getting a diverse group to study. Then, each student will design something in Tinker CAD to represent the individual they have researched. We will use the 3D printers to print the objects. Then they will use this 3D printed object as a prop when they stand and deliver their report to the class. This will give all the students a chance to learn more about diverse individuals and listen to other students present the people they have researched. It also gives them different skills to retain the information and an object to keep to help them remember who and what they have learned.
