These manipulatives will help my ELL students be able to visualize phonemes that may not be present in the ELL"s native language. Manipulatives will be useful for students when counting words in a sentence, and introducing the concept of counting syllables, Manipulatives can also be useful for students to learn to visualize how to segment syllables as they progress in their mastery of phonological and phonemic awareness. When students use manipulatives they work hands-on in the formation of words; for example, using magnetic letter blocks to construct and deconstruct words.
