This classroom project was brought to life by An Anonymous Funder and one other donor.Readers and Thinkers!
Funded Nov 5, 2021Thank you so much for all of the support and donations. I was floored when I saw that our Donors Choose had that much support and was fully funded. We have been working with these books each and every day with our lessons. We are learning about non-fiction text features, using context clues to find out words we don't know, character trait analysis, and many more skills.
Just today, we read the Malala story as a read aloud to celebrate International Women's Month. My students find so much joy in reading, and we read as much as we can. Some students have even told me that this year, they have read more than they ever have. Our school does not have a library my classroom library is built off donations, and what I can afford. You all have given my students such wonderful books and they are so grateful, as am I.”

Document Camera
Funded Nov 14, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donations. The challenges that this year has brought cannot even be put into words. Students have been robbed of a 'normal' school year, and they are still trying to make the most out of it. With your donation, we were able to overcome one of those challenges.
The document camera has helped IMMENSELY. We have done so many science projects, read alouds, and written work that the students can actually see what is going on, and my remote students feel like they are part of the classroom more. I teach science and social studies and the students cannot come to my classroom, so I have to travel from room to room, making things very challenging. I don't think I would be able to teach my lessons as well without the document camera. The students love it as well, they were so excited when they saw I got one :).
For my EL students, this has also been such a big help. Those students need a lot of modeling, and with social distancing, it is near impossible to work and model with a student that closely. With the document camera, I am able to show my students close up exactly what we are learning about, and I can provide the models they need in order to learn.
I can't thank you enough, your generosity has put a smile on my face, and more than 100 students' faces as well.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mendes
