The materials I am requesting will enable me to implement proven, effective, Kagan strategies throughout the day while teaching various subjects. First of all, I would like to make the current desks and chairs that I have more functional for moving and learning. Our desks are old, heavy, loud and hard to move. With a set of “Really Good Stuff Fuzzy Feet Chair Glides” we will be able to glide our desks to new group configurations with ease, without all of the noise and frustration. Also, a set of inexpensive tennis balls attached to the feet of our student chairs will soften the glide. With these simple supplies, we will be gliding to our new Kagan structured learning groups with ease! Secondly, wobble stools and a standing desk will allow gentle movement and the option of standing to enhance focus and attention for my more active learners. For Kagan strategies to work, participation from each student is fundamental. Everyone has a “Role” in each group setting, and this can be very challenging for students who have issues staying focused. Wobble stools and standing desks are a popular, proven-effective option for these students. Finally, a set of dry erase easels would allow each Kagan group to have a place to present their work. These have countless uses and would be used daily to enhance learning in our classroom. With these in our classroom, everyone will have a “Space” to plan and share their work with their teams and with the class.
