Blocks for Kindergarteners
Funded Dec 26, 2023I would like to thank you very much for your generous donation of the blocks for our Kindergarteners at PS115. This year we started a new curriculum that is more hands on learning. The blocks will be used for the next unit: Solid Shapes All Around us. The blocks will help the student identify, describe, analyze, compare, and compose three- dimensional shapes. As well as being used to help with counting, addition, and subtraction.
In addition, the students playing with blocks provides the opportunity for problem solving and will help them develop gross and fine motor skills. Another benefit from the blocks are that our kindergartens will develop spatial reasoning and hand eye coordination which will be skills they will need throughout their academic journey.”

Hear That - It's Remote-Learning Success Calling!
Funded Dec 14, 2020We are so thankful for your generosity as this technology has been a huge help as it is helping our students learn. The headphones have allowed students to still collaborate with their remote peers while simultaneously allowing for a quieter environment in the classroom which helps focus. Hence, this helped create a more collaborative and focused learning environment in general. They also learn so much from each other. Also, the stylus helps students draw models more accurately which further helps their learning.
Moreover, our students were ecstatic to use these new products! They loved the idea of being able to better communicate with their peers. Our class is split into cohorts and remote students. So, even though the two cohorts do get to come in person at times, it is difficult to get the entire class to interact. However, when they knew that they could now easily interact with one another, they were excited to discuss topics with their peers. Also, the stylus allowed for more accurate drawings which they were happy about! For these reasons, all students warmed up to this technology quite quickly!
Thus, thank you again for your help as our classroom has benefitted immensely. These are trying times for all, and every piece of help to make this learning experience better for students is heavily appreciated.”

Technology Assistance for Blending/Remote Learning
Funded Oct 1, 2020During this unprecedented time, cooperative learning has been especially difficult to instate as the appropriate technology is required to simultaneously reach in-person and remote students. So, when we received the wireless microphone headset, breathable masks, and speaker, we were elated. We are still so very grateful as they have consistently aided our class for weeks and will continue to do so! The wireless microphone headset allows students to better hear me. Since they hear me clearer, they have become better able to retain even more important information during class lessons that they otherwise might have missed. As I am live teaching remote and in-person students, this also allowed all students access to the same teaching quality now that everyone can hear me. Also, all students have more practice with listening, which is a crucial literacy skill. Moreover, the breathable masks have helped the class as well since students can visually see how the mouth moves when learning new vocabulary which has aided in learning proper pronunciation. It also helps cater to different types of learners and helps differentiate in class and on Zoom. Finally, the speaker was incredibly useful as well since the sound quality allows students to hear one another, even though we have both in-person and remote learners, which helps them work cooperatively as well. It's important that students can communicate with one another as that is also how so much great learning from each other occurs. Each student has great knowledge to offer one another!
This experience has really helped us all work more cooperatively with one another and establish more normalcy in the classroom despite the adversity faced. We sincerely appreciate your contributions that helped foster even more of a community and learning environment within our classroom. Thank you from all of us!”

Ms. Raniolo
