Math in the Real World
Funded Oct 13, 2023Thank you so much for your contribution. It is very important for my students to understand that math is not just computation problems, or when I was in school, drill and kill. By providing them with the Scholastic Magazines they are able to see how math is used in real life.
For some of my students, reading comprehension is low so incorporating math and reading is a win win. The stories make the math come alive. For those students that don't like to do math in the first place, I have seen them more eager to work, so thank you.
Again, thank you so very much.”

Let's Do Some Constructions!
Funded Jul 11, 2023Thank you so much for allowing each of my students to have their own compass and protractor. Some of my students don't have the means for any additional school supplies so this meant a lot to them.
Our first unit in Geometry was constructions so they used these items daily. The brand I chose is the best compass I have found and makes creating constructions more precise.
Now that every student has these tools, I have been finding more ways to utilize them. We currently have been using them to prove certain theorems that deal with congruent triangles.
Again, thank you so much for your contribution to my students.”

Funded May 6, 2022Thank you for your kind donations. I had initially wanted my students to have a stylus for their end of the year state assessment. I received them after testing but now I have a great use for them. This year our district is mandating every student spend a certain number of minutes a week at school on a math on-line platform. We chose Tuesdays. My students are on their iPads or Chromebooks using this platform every week. The stylus has made answering questions, graphing points/lines so much easier for them. When I handed them out, my students were so happy. I did have to spend a few extra minutes so they could exchange with others so they each could have a color they wanted. :-)
Thank you again for your generosity.”

Accessories Needed to Help Students Visually Learn Math
Funded May 28, 2021Thank you so much for my accessories that go with my Microsoft Surface. I use these items EVERYDAY. With the Surface I am able to walk around the room helping my students while they are taking notes and participating in the lessons. I can, in the moment, create new questions that they have over the lesson.
It may not seem to many people how much a stylus can affect one's job. Without it for, for me, teaching math today would be difficult.
Again, thank you so much. With the help from all of you, students are having a more enriching education with th the additional support you provide for us.”

Funded Jan 12, 2021Thank you for your donation to help fund a Microsoft Surface for myself and my students. My students are able to see my PowerPoint lessons in the Zoom session and I can answer questions from the notes on the Surface just like I would have been able to do with a Document Reader/LCD Projector, but this way is much better. I can also upload worksheets and write on them while the students tell me how to answer the questions. After the lesson is completed, I am able to upload the completed PowerPoints with answers so absent students or those that are not able to complete the notes themselves have or just need additional assistance for other reasons.
I am especially excited to use this Surface when we go back to in-person school. I will be able to take the tablet part and continue teaching a lesson while moving around the room to help monitor student's and do quick assessments on how they are doing.
Even though my students do not actually get to use the Surface, it has had a positive impact on their learning.
Thank you again for your contribution. Teachers appreciate any support they can get.”

Ms. Andersen
