Funded Aug 15, 2024Thank you for your generous donation to fund Gelli Plate supplies for my classroom. Thanks to your support, my students now have access to the tools they need to explore their creativity and express themselves in new ways.
By putting up two Donors Choose projects for Gelli plates I was able to get a Gelli plate for each student plus some stencils to experiment with. Gelli plates are a unique printmaking tool that give students the opportunity to experiment with that layering paint to create dimensional pieces of art. Because they look like a piece of jello, students didn't know what to think of them when they first saw them, but once we started using them the students were wowed!
The students learned so much with this project. On the first day they learned how to experiment with stencils and bubble wrap to create a beautiful background for their birds. On the second day students learned how to create a registration system for their print, allowing them to print multiple times on their background paper. The excitement generated by this project warmed my heart. The students, in every class, literally would not stop working when it was time to clean up and are asking to do Gelli printing again. The process allowed them to experiment with different printing techniques and enabled them to make changes to their print as they went. It was fantastic to see faces light up when they pulled the paper from the printing plate.”

Funded Dec 19, 2023Thank you for your generous donations. Art supplies are very expensive and I like my students to have high quality art supplies that they enjoy using, and more importantly, art supplies that work well and deliver great results.
One of the projects the students are working on is drawing insects. First we learn about insects, and how important they are to our world. Next, students choose and draw an insect. After the insect is done the students draw a leaf or flower, they place the insect on the leaf or flower and then we display the insects in the hall and art show.
We are just starting on creating a forest for the art show, the students will hang the insects in the forest.
By helping provide my students with art supplies they are free to explore and use supplies that create great works of art without worrying about running out of supplies, or what the supplies cost.
Again, thank you”

Funded Oct 23, 2023My students are working on their murals! They are so engaged and excited to be creating group murals, it is a joy to see them immersed in the creative process of painting.
The students are creating 5 group paintings. They are approximately 36 X 72 inches, or 3 X 6 feet. Each group member created a drawing which was transferred to the canvas for their group so that the composition was created by all team members. They are now painting those canvases. I have uploaded two parts of each painting, I could not upload the whole painting due to the limitations of size and format for the photographs on Donors Choose.
I want you to know how grateful both my students and I are that they are able to engage in this collaborative process.”

Ms. Suzanne
Stocking Up on Needed Supplies
Funded Nov 29, 2022Thank you for your support. Having quality art supplies to complete art projects is essential to student success. Your donations help get those supplies.
One 4th grade project we worked on this year was a project with the local arts council. The project included a field trip to a local river, and the students learned about the river and the river habitat. The student art project was to print fish using the technique of woodblock printing. Because they are in elementary school the students used styrofoam instead of wood. First, they drew the fish with a pen on a piece of styrofoam, next, the students used ink to make many prints of their fish using those printing plates. In the end, we made two large prints that included every student's fish.
We would not have been able to do this large-scale printing project without your support”

Each student chose a constellation or created their own constellation. When I brought out the metallic paints, paint sticks, and markers the student's eyes lit up and they were even more excited to work on their art.

When Butterflies Arrive the Heart Sings!!
Funded Jan 22, 2022This was a phenomenal project!! The students created butterflies, caterpillars, butterfly eggs, and chrysalis. Kindergarten created clothespin butterflies, 1st grade created Paper Mache butterfly eggs with giant leaves, 2nd grade constructed Paper Mache caterpillars with giant leaves, 3rd grade made collage butterflies, 4th created made monarch butterflies, 5th grade made chrysalis, and 6th grade created butterfly murals. All grades helped to create a habitat for the butterfly life-cycle. Then the whole school came together and produced a butterfly habitat in the hallways of the school!
The students loved this project, first they loved creating a part of the butterfly life-cycle. 1st, 2nd and 5th graders loved experiencing art using Paper Mache. Getting their hands dirty and creating 3-D representations of eggs, caterpillars and chrysalis. The 4th grade loved making semi transparent Monarch butterflies which hung on a Monarch butterfly tree! Kindergarten and 3rd grade enjoyed the process of creating butterflies. 3rd grade painted patterns on paper and then collaged butterflies with their with that paper. Kindergarten used paint and paper for the wings and a painted and glittered clothes pin for the body.
The 6th grade butterfly murals were hung throughout the school on Art night for students and family members as a photo booth, allowing patrons to stand in front of the wings and have their picture taken, in the photograph it look as if they had wings.
The students loved working on the individual pieces of this project, and were in awe of the butterfly habitat that it created! It truly helped the students come together as a community. Thank you so much for your support.”
