As I enter my fourth week of remote learning, I have come to realize the supports needed to help make remote learning more successful. An iPad and stylus will allow me to fill some of the holes I have noticed thus far. As a teacher, I create charts with my students about their learning that are rich in print. This shared writing fills our room where students have access whenever they need to do their work. This has been missing in our day-to-day teachings. Being able to create posters with written print that I can share via our virtual classroom will make information accessible once again. This also provides a connection to written print (forming letters, words, and sentences) that writers at this age so desperately need. I want to make information readily available as they explore and complete independent, hands-on work. I can display resources so they can refer to them as needed. I can also use the iPad as a document camera to model mathematics, writing, and provide read alouds to my students. I can continue to use this iPad to display and manipulate work as we model for each other various strategies and in understanding concepts. This learning support can also be easily adapted for classroom learning when we return to school.
