  • Meaningful Communication and Social Skills

    Funded Aug 25, 2022

We cannot thank you enough for your donations to this project to help build student communication. The basketball hoop helped us build meaningful peer-to-peer interaction. Three of our students started to show interest in playing with each other and we were able to teach how to take turns. One student now vocalizes "_____ turn" "My turn." The ball popper has also created peer-to-peer interaction where they take turns and countdown "Ready Set Go!"

The Paw Patrol walkie talkies have helped us teach one of our students how to follow directions related to maintaining safety. He no longer drops or tries to run away because we are able to use the walkie to send messages to him when he is out of the room.

The apples have helped out students request using adjectives such as "red apple" or "Yellow apple" and also helped them request "help when opening.

It has been amazing to see our students make progress in requesting items and also showing interest in playing with peers. We are so thankful for your contribution!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Alison

  • Laminating Our Way to Success

    Funded Jan 19, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom. Having a laminator and binding machine is a continuous help every year. With our laminator, we have been able to laminate visual cues, pictures for picture exchange communication books, and file folder tasks. With the binding machine, we have been able create books that last. We have created may adapted books to match the season and time of year. We have also been able to write a couple of social stories to assist students in building certain social skills. It has not only been helpful for our class, it has also been of use in other classrooms in the school.

Thank you again for donating to help us have materials to better support our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Alison

  • 21-22 Reporting for Duty: Toilet Training Supplies

    Funded Dec 13, 2021

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom! Your donation has allowed us to begin toilet training our students. By having access to multiple pairs of gray sweatpants, we were able to continue toilet training even if the student had an accident. We also did not have to ask parents to provide us the sweatpants which prevented financial burdens. The different sizes of sweatpants gave us the ability to toilet train multiple students at once.

Since we were able to start toilet training with your donation, we have had two students begin to use the toilet on a consistent schedule. We have begun teaching the initiation process with two students, and one student is now requesting the bathroom!! Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Alison

  • Ice, Ice, Baby!

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

We cannot thank you enough for donating to Ice Ice Baby. The refrigerator has been so helpful for storage for snacks. We are able to save yogurts, muffins, and cream cheese for our students, so if they do not like the school lunch, they have something to eat. One student even went over to the fridge and said "muffin" to request food (which is major progress!!!).

We are also able to keep student food that is brought in from home in the fridge.

We have been working hard at toilet training. We are able to keep waters and juice cold, so our students drink it and have to use the toilet!

Thank you for supporting our class and helping us succeed.”

  • Sensing our Success

    Funded May 4, 2021

We cannot thank you enough for providing our students yoga mats and painting supplies. Right now, we are learning to take out/put away our yoga mats. Each student has a color and knows which one is theirs.

The non-spill paint has been extremely helpful during art activities. We are able to keep the areas clean. The top that we can put on the paint container is also helpful because we can place the lid on the paint and, if a student it is out of the room for a related service, they can complete the project when they get back without us needing to set up again.

Thank you for providing us with art supplies and yoga mats. Our students are so happy!”

  • Reporting to Duty: Toilet Training Supplies

    Funded Apr 5, 2021

I cannot thank you enough for your donation to this project. As soon as we received the sweatpants and underwear, we began our intensive toilet training! The multiple pants made it much easier on families since they did not have to provide the extra clothing.

Having multiple pants in the same size supported us in continuing the toilet training throughout the day. If a student had an accident, we could see it quickly (because of the gray color) and we could put another pair of sweatpants on.

All of our students got better at using the toilet consistently. One student started the training being afraid of the bathroom and is now fully toilet-trained!! Our other students who were toilet training, consistently use the toilet when brought to the bathroom and are now working on requesting for the bathroom.

Thanks to your donation we were able to stay consistent in toilet training!”

  • iPad So iCan Communicate

    Funded Jan 7, 2021

Thank you so much for your donation for an iPad. We have been able to use the Class iPad during rotations to practice tracing, matching, and letter sounds. We have also started to teach the students how to request iPad.

One student learned to use his speech device to say "I want iPad." Another student learned how to request iPad using sign language. Two students have learned to request iPad verbally.

Each student has an activity that they like the most on the iPad. One student enjoys the tracing, one enjoys matching letters to a word. Another student loves the iPad so much, it is used as a reward. When he earns the iPad as a reward, he finds the app with books and listens to different animal audio books.

The iPad has supported our student learning immensely. We are so excited to see where the iPad continues to take our student learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Alison

  • Math, ELA, Remote Learning, Oh My!

    Funded Oct 6, 2020

We cannot thank you enough for your donations to this project. The tracing books have been extremely useful during remote teaching. Tracing even became a reward for one student who used to not like doing it! Every remote lesson, he was reaching for his book. He is even starting to write the letters now!

The Light Up Musical Shape Sorter and Monster Math Balance Scale are two favorites that are often utilized. The Shapes Discovery Box helped one student generalize that different items have different shapes!

The tactile letters have been fundamental in supporting students recognition of the letter and they also contributed to successful tracing!

The number puzzles are so popular that one student is now able to ask for puzzles in sign language!

Thank you again for your support in a challenging time and contributing to the growth of our students!”

  • New School, New Class, New Toys

    Funded Sep 27, 2020

Thank you again for your donation to my project. The containers have helped organize student work. Each student has been assigned their own color for "To-Do" work and "Completed" work. We have been using the mats for Quiet Time and our Music/Movement class. As soon as the mats are brought out, our students run to their mat.

When we put the sensory toys out, our students immediately went to play with them. One student loves the Stacking Number Board so much, that he hardly ever puts it down. We are able to use it as a reinforcer for completing his ELA work.

Recently, we introduced the Barnyard Boxes. All of the students immediately grabbed a Barnyard Box and began to study it. It has been helping with their color matching and puzzle work (fitting the animal into the box). We are going to start using it to practice 1:1 correspondence and matching quantity to numeral.

Thanks to your donation, our students are able to have an organized/comfortable classroom, have toys to support their sensory needs, and learn through items that they find reinforcing.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Alison

With budget cuts and a new location (starting from scratch!), we do not have a lot of math or ELA tools. My students learn best with hands-on materials! The magnetic letters and numbers will help them with learning their letters and spelling their names. The shape matching games will help them practice matching skills and learn their shapes. Along with this, the special handwriting books will be sent home with them so they can practice tracing their letters from home for the days they are remote. Please help donate so my students can learn effectively in school and at home!
