An Apple (MacBook) for the Teacher!

I want to thank you for your generous donations that allowed me to purchase a Macbook Pro computer. When I started teaching 15 years ago, you did not need computers, all I had was a desktop in my classroom that I only used for attendance and emails, which were not many. In our current era of teaching everything relies on computers, reliable computers. I have gone from teaching in the classroom, relying on having sharpened pencils, to teaching at home from a computer. When teaching from a computer. it is important to have a reliable and fast computer. It does not matter how good of a teacher you are, without a good computer you will not be as successful as you want to be.

In my current situation, as a remote teacher, having a computer that is fast and reliable is very important. When I was in the classroom, I would use the white board to show and explain middle school math topics, which is now done through planned google slides. When creating my google slides, I use many different resources from the internet, so it is important to me that a new computer can handle that. My chromebook could not, but my new MacBook Pro can!!!! I then take that slide show and use it to teach, through sharing my screen with my students. I share different slides, I share videos, and I share student work if need be, and this computer can handle that without any lag time!

My students were very excited about this new Macbook Pro. Since most of my lessons are presented through sharing my screen in a google meet, a fast computer is important. My students would get frustrated with the amount of lag time I would have with my old computer. At times some of the videos would not even open, due to the speed of the computer, but not now! I can share flawlessly, and can go back and forth through different screens more efficiently! The reliability of this computer, and the ability to teach without lag-time is making remote teaching more normal and more consistent for my students, which equals more success for them!
