These titles will be used in order for scholars to be able to participate in Dystopian book clubs, in which they will choose a text as a"Book Club" or group, and read it together. In this case our district is completely remote and scholars have no access to books. I will deliver these books to their homes and they will zoom in for class and read the texts in their book clubs, having deep discussions about the meaning of the book, and giving opinions about it. Throughout this unit scholars will understand that the genre of dystopian literature develops themes based on societal problems. Scholars will also understand that authors use literary elements to convey a deeper meaning in their writing (author's craft, symbolism, characterization). As well as that readers regularly have conversations about what they are reading in order to understand the world around them and how language is used. As scholars read the books they will write pieces that will eventually be put together in order to form a full literary essay and respond to these understandings.
