The sticky notes, paper, and digital materials I am requesting for my self-contained students are for hands-on activity in ELA class. With these, my students can create an ice-cream sandwich using sentence strips with their supporting details for the text. They can use sticky notes for chalk talks and hang them up in the classroom with fun-tak. These are activities that my students love to do. The materials from Teachers Pay Teachers are stimulating and fit perfect for the needs of my students whether we are discussing themes/ central ideas from a text or figurative languages. The graphic organizers from TPT work wonders in the classroom and online. My students are able to verbalize their thoughts but writing their ideas and responses are challenging for them. Therefore, giving them the stimulation by using decorative, watercolored stationaries such as papers, envelopes and markers encourages them to write and be active in class. My students use dry erase boards to share their answers for independent and class activities such as socially distanced games and debates in class. The use of Expo markers allow them to create and erase at their level of comforts. When they are in school on selected days I aim to get them out of their chairs and off the screen and into the world of literacy through hands-on, interactive activities.
