  • Make Listening Magic!

    Funded Nov 13, 2024

Since my students have received the headphones under the project entitled"Make Listening Magic!", they have been doing a good job of focusing on the article they are working on from their computers, for example, watching videos.

They are better able to recall facts and information during group or whole class discussions and reviews, better able to share their thoughts and ideas, and to highlight details that otherwise they would have missed. I have noticed that they are more engaged, they concentrate better and the less time I have to be redirecting them to pay attention to their work.

Students have related to be that these headphones are of good quality, because they

"cancel noise and have a nice volume". I am happy to hear that and I think you will too. On behalf of my students I want to take this opportunity to say thank you for for the headphones as they have made a big difference by impacting the learning experience in a positive way in my class”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Powell

  • Hear and Listen as we Learn!

    Funded Oct 23, 2020

My students and I are thankful for the headphones. All in-class have been suspended right now ,due to the rising levels of Co-Vid 19 in New York City. However, a few of my students were able to collect these devices and take them home. Students have shared their satisfaction and how grateful they are with using these headphones, at home.

One student told me, " Ms. Powell, this is so beneficial, because my sister and I uses the same space for our work. When I am in a synchronous Google meet, I can put on my headphone, so I do not distract my sister. It also work the other way too. I am better able to concentrate better." This is the general comment from my students in that they are better able to concentrate and focus on their work.

Once again , on behalf of my students, I say thank you Donor's Choose for your help in making the learning process in these unprecedented times so much more manageable. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Powell

Since I have ELLs and students with IEPs, the use of headphones is a necessity in all daily activities in my classroom, especially in science and global history. Using the headphones for independent practice allow me to see exactly who is engaged in reading and listening assignments. What becomes a problem is the fact that when they are listening to a video without a headphone, it is distracting for others who have focusing issues and they miss important details. By having the headphones, students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on increasing their listening skills and learn! By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focusing skills, you will ultimately help to increase their academic learning and listening skills. Students will be able to simply focus on their academic material at hand, block out other noises and distractions. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn.
