I teach in an extremely diverse urban high school in Waterbury, CT. Giving my students the opportunity to learn in an environment with better air quality will help them to stay more engaged and excited to learn. Our classroom only has two small windows at the back of the classroom and no air conditioning. The weather is quickly changing as well and having the windows constantly open allows for students to suffer from allergies and other illnesses. With the masks on, students struggle to be able to breathe easy during class.
