Funded Sep 29, 2022I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your generosity. Once the books arrive, the scholars will have an opportunity to delve into a world of wonder and imagination. I can't wait to see the looks on my scholars faces when we unpack their new adventures.”

Funded Dec 22, 2020I want to take this time to say thank you for your donations. Your donations have made a tremendous impact on our scholars' lives. During these trying times when nothing is concrete and changes are being made on a daily basis, our scholars needed to have access to the school platform via the use of technology.
The scholars have used the I-pads in many different ways this school year. The Second Grade Rock Stars used their I-pads to conduct research on controversial topics and have gained an understanding of different cultures and how the world connects to us all. The I-pads have been used as a multi-entry point for scholars. Our scholars have different learning modalities and this is one way to ensure that the students have access to the resources they need. We have also utilized the I-pads, for lessons on Nearpod, for Math. Utilizing Nearpod allows the scholars to show everyone their work at the same time. Then the scholars are able to discuss the Mathematical Five Practices used during Math time. The expectation is that the scholars are discussing different strategies that they may have used to solve a problem and it also helps the other scholars determine whether or not they were on the right track or if they still need more assistance. The use of educational platforms are endless.
The most exciting part about the I-pads is that the scholars are all able to interact with one another, whether they are in the building or at home learning. They are happy that no matter what they still are able to participate with one another and see each others faces. The best part of it is that the scholars not only love the I-pads but those scholars who did not have access prior are now able to participate and they do not feel left out. This is very important because we do not need our scholars feeling as if they are not part of our community. As part of our school initiative, scholars are also able to participate in Brain Power sessions which focus on teaching scholars how to use mindfulness and its benefits. Community is key and we can ensure that there is equity within our schools through donors like you!”
