This iPad will allow me to film my live classroom instruction through Zoom & Swivl while fully integrating students who are also learning and contributing to class, creating a truly seamless hybrid classroom that matches our current school model. Working from the iPad will allow me to govern the chat where students at home can share their opinions and ideas with their peers in class. By using an iPad on a Swivl, I can flip the iPad camera so the writing on my white board is not backwards on the video recording. Recording class instruction and modeling practices allows me to be portable in the classroom. The microphone from the iPad and/or Swivl can pick up students' questions/contributions from the classroom, further breaking down barriers, creating flexible learning opportunities.
With this iPad, all of my students, in and outside of class, will have the opportunity to learn together under the current hybrid learning model, and they will have the flexibility to utilize recordings of classroom instruction, modeled practice, and further learning supports. This will allow students to grow in class and develop, both synchronously and asynchronously, while nurturing the classroom environment and fulfilling the social and emotional needs of all students.
The best way to increase student learning for all of my students is to connect all students, whether in class or working from home, through sharing and recording the live Zoom, so that students can contribute and engage in real time. My students already have shown an astonishing engagement under the hybrid learning model by filming their own book talks and presentations via Zoom, and sharing their Zoom recordings in class. This project will only further to help enrich their learning experiences under the hybrid model by having both live access and recordings of class instruction and student contributions.
