  • Sheltered SpEd Fashion Design Project Materials

    Funded Jul 20, 2021

Thank you so much for your generosity in funding the materials for my Sheltered SpEd Fashion Design class. Usually I get a small budget to work with to buy a few supplies for my SpEd classes, and this year when I was given my budget, they didn't give me any money for this class at all. So, without your funding, I would not be able to give my students a hands on experience into the Fashion world. They have been so excited with the couple of projects that we have completed so far, and I can't wait to show them what else this year has to offer with the materials purchased. Thank you again, it has been such a blessing to myself and my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. NORRID

  • Flexible Seating Reading Nook

    Funded Feb 19, 2021

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and helping us have a Flexible Seating Reading Nook.

My students got to help with 100% of this project from putting together bookshelves, hanging curtains and wall décor, as well as putting in the flooring and hanging the self-adhesive wall paper. They were so excited as the materials came in and they could work on getting the nook ready. It really is an amazing space that is utilized every single day! I have to make them take turns each day who gets to use it. Sometimes they come in during lunch or after school to either relax or do homework. The teachers in my hallway come in to relax too.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. NORRID

  • Sheltered Sped Interior Design Project Materials

    Funded Nov 23, 2020

On behalf of myself and my students I want to send our deepest thanks for the supplies that you helped fund.

My 20 students are all special needs in my CTED (Career and Technology Education for Students with Disabilities) Interior Design class. Ninety percent come from low income families, and we are a Title 1 school. Without your funding, my students wouldn't have gotten to do some amazing projects where they learned so much.

We were able to make 4 amazing projects with all the materials that were funded...

    1. DIY Balloon Light after we learned about the different types of lighting in houses. Now they each have a cute hanging light they can put anywhere.

    2. Woven Basket

    3. Painted Canvas for Valentines Day

    4. DIY Macramé Wall Hanging

The kiddos have had such a great time doing the projects, and they learned so much by doing them as well as working on their small and large motor skills too. They come back the next day and tell me where they put their projects and how excited their parents were to see them. Thank you for helping support our program and giving my students a little extra love. We all appreciate your kindness and generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. NORRID

Since my class is a Career and Technology Education for students with Disabilities, these items, will help my 20 students get familiar with color schemes and projects that will help them learn design styles. They will be able to use the Playstix building pieces to make individual houses, and some days just interact more. The timer will help them know how much time we have left in class. I have one boy who needs the foot rest so that he can rock his feet and not have that be a distraction to the other students.
