In my classroom, I am striving to ignite the flame of curiosity in my students and teach them the skills they need to better explore and understand the world around them. What better way to do that than through hands-on experimenting and rich group discussion! All the things that we have come to associate and love about science classrooms. After a year of social distancing and independent learning, I am excited to get my students back to as normal of a classroom experience as possible. (barring Delta Variant complications) This means putting my students in seating arrangements that promote collaboration and relationship building. Currently in my classroom, I have the standard desks where chairs are attached to the desk. These desks do not allow me to easily arrange my room for student collaboration, nor do they provide ample, seamless, table space for experimental work. Additionally, these desks do not allow a full range of motion for my students in the classroom and are not comfortable for all of my students that have different body types. Students can't learn as well if they are physically uncomfortable.
