Recently my projector bulb went out in my classroom. Finding a solution on the fly, I ran to the library and got a TV cart with a 35" TV on it. I plugged my computer into the TV and used the small 35" TV to teach for 3 days. My students begged me, "Mr. Haston, PLEASE don't go back to the projector. The TV is much clearer and easier to see!" So I got to thinking, how sad that the children would rather look at a small 35" TV than my blurry and grainy projector. I did a poll in my classes and asked would you rather me use this 35" TV or the projector, and the answer baffled me. In every one of my classes, the students voted to use the small 35" TV. This made me ponder, what if I could get a larger TV and mount it to the wall. I have had several children already this year asked to be moved to the front of the classroom because they cannot see. This is a problem every year, but more so due to COVID-19 as I cannot sit them closer than 6 ft apart. A larger TV in my room would be a perfect fix to the solution due to the vividness and better viewing quality than my projector. I teach social studies and we are constantly looking at maps or going on virtual field trips to Egypt, Israel, China, and more! Being able to view this more clearly would help especially with those students who have a harder time seeing.
