The availability of a classroom iPad will benefit the students I serve in the classroom directly and those I help manage digitally. I will have the flexibility to record my lessons from anywhere. The iPad’s features cater nicely to the challenges that come with teaching math and incorporating its many formulas and mathematical symbols into documents and other platforms. The possibility of multiple absences due to COVID unknowns for my in-person students will be more manageable as an iPad will give an opportunity to create stations within my classroom for students to work on topics specific to their individual needs. Furthermore, to alleviate some of the difficulty students and parents feel from learning at home, I will be able to supplement computer generated instruction with specific self-created tutorials. This will also foster a sense of connectedness and the relationships I build with students and families not currently on campus. Through engaging and tech-based lessons, an iPad will help me prove just how fun and useful learning math can be! As a lover of educational breakout rooms, I would be able to incorporate more technology into the physical breakout rooms that I now do. Additionally, I will be able to allow students to test the limits of their creativity through video creations, school-wide scavenger hunts, digital artwork, and more! I can engage students in a variety of digital games and manipulative/interactive math sites such as Desmos Activity Builder. I will be able to foster collaboration and teamwork that is so vital in helping students become confident math students. By contributing to this project, you will help me in supporting both the academic and social/emotional needs of students by providing me with a means to enhance engagement in mathematics and foster a sense of connectedness in these trying times.
