In a time when our children are inundated by technology, I would like to provide them the opportunity to return to the most basic, but most beautiful, the cornerstone of knowledge - a book. Nothing in this world is as life-changing as learning from a book, and I think it is something from which we are, sadly, distancing ourselves. Nothing, however, can replace a good story, or the feeling of cracking the spine of a brand-new book, or the feeling of amazement and wonder which washes over you after having journeyed along with your favorite characters. Recall the most powerful book from your childhood - how you knew you would never forget it, how it changed you as a person, how it changed the world around you, and how it inspired you to open the next book. This is the experience I want to recreate for my students. A library is a crucial thing, and in a world of uncertainty, I would like my kids to have an avenue of exploration, expression, and a chance to connect to something bigger than themselves.
