  • Engaging Small Group Learning Tools

    Funded Dec 20, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity. These materials will enable us to provide more effective instruction for our learners. Having an opportunity to come together to collaborate but still have enough room for needed personal space helps to increase engagement and safety in my classroom. Thank you again and again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lisa

  • Learning to Play, Playing to Learn

    Funded May 26, 2022

I truly believe that it takes a village for my special learners to be successful. You generosity shows my students that they have a village far outside of the people they interact with daily.

Funding this project shows my students that there are people out there that believe they are capable of becoming amazing human beings... people that don't know them, but still believe they are capable and worthy.

These materials go a long way towards helping my students develop and refine important social skills that will set them up for success in the future. Thank you for believing in my young learners as much as I do.”

    Ms. Lisa

  • Ice Cream, Sprinkles and Fun for Everyone

    Funded Jun 5, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity that made this project a reality. We were able to celebrate the hard work my students put in towards growing their social emotional skills. We were able to celebrate the end of the school year and the beginning of summer.

Due to your support, we were able to gift each student a book with a special message written inside by each classroom staff member. We were also able to give each student a gift bag with chalk, playdoh and a fidget. Thank you again for your support! It meant the world to these kiddos!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lisa

  • From Speech to Print We Will Rocket Into Reading

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

I am so excited to see that this project has funded. I cannot let my learners know they have the support of so many people that don’t even know just how wonderful they are in person. The support of the DonorsChoose community is overwhelming and I feel so blessed to know that there are so many people that value public education as much as you do. Thank you again for allowing me to provide these materials for my students.”

  • Make Learning Come Alive!

    Funded Jul 17, 2023

Thank you so much for your kindness. The resources that I will be able to purchase from Teachers Pay Teachers will serve my class this year and my future students for years to come.

I have already chosen several different social emotional resources to purchase that will tie directly in to our social emotional curriculum that we already use.”

  • Big Feelings Need a Cozy, Calming Space

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

Thank you so much for providing the necessary items to make a safe and cozy space for my students to go while they work through their feelings and learn to self-regulate. This calm down corner is used daily by every student.

The carpet squares that we got through this project help to make the calm down corner a soft place to land for my students - both literally and figuratively. The wallpaper is a calming color that was not only soothing, but it helped to cover our aging walls, making the space safer and more cheerful.

The calming strategies posters were perfect to help my students walk through their deescalation process, and they enjoyed reading them over and over again each time they were in the corner.

The beanbag and the breathing boards were the stars of the calm down corner, and were well utilized. We added to the space with some existing calming tools that we had and it all came together.

Your kindness and generosity were felt all year long in our classroom - even by other students who came into our room and needed to use the space for self-regulation.”

  • For the Love of Reading

    Funded May 5, 2022

Thank you so much for making this project happen for my young learners! Most of the students in my K-2 classroom are blow to significantly below grade level for reading. The flip books and Touch/Read matching activity in this project are important tools to support and reinforce the learning that is taking place in my classroom.

The students enjoy the matching game so much. We follow the matching rules and then also add in a multisensory approach to tapping out the spelling of and/ or the sounds heard in the words before we blend the words together. My students learn best when we can make any learning activity involve multiple modalities. And I love to see them shine!!

I am forever grateful for donors like you who are a part of our classroom family!”

  • STEMazing Learning in K-2

    Funded May 5, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations that made this project possible for my students. The students in my program are not always successful in accessing learning in a traditional manner, but these materials that you have so generously donated help to bring everything to life in a way that is meaningful to them and appropriate for them. My amazing students love science and hands on activities. They are also emerging readers, who especially enjoy when I do read alouds each day. Our classroom ties our read aloud time into every subject area, so this helps to reinforce the science lessons when we do the activities.

The books that you have provided for in this project highlight several key topics in our science curriculum, and the manipulatives allow for hands on reinforcement of topics like force, motion and gravity. And then when we go to the playground, the students are able to correlate these hands on lessons with real life experiences - and they are so excited to bring it all together.”

  • Magnificent Mentor Texts Part 1

    Funded Aug 27, 2022

Thank you so much for you support for our classroom. These texts will bring my students together at story time, and then engage them in writing and comprehension activities afterwards. You have made such a difference in their learning lives with your donation and we will be forever grateful! It takes a village and we are blessed that you are a part of ours.”

  • Financial Literacy for Young Learners

    Funded Aug 8, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity. Financial Literacy is an essential skill and you are helping my students to get a head start on it. Last year, we started learning about money and now we can continue that learning outside of our regular math block and expand it into all times of our day.

It takes a village to grow successful learners and we are so lucky that you are a part of ours.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lisa

Math can be intimidating, and for my young social emotional learners, some of whom are also English Language Learners, it can be downright daunting when new concepts are introduced. These games and manipulatives will not only make learning the initial concepts less intimidating and more fun, but the hands on aspect will help to make the concepts more concrete. These games you are giving to my students will not only be used for learning times, but also for earned incentive time as a reward they choose for making good choices throughout the day. Learning through play is so important, and when my students can practice what we are learning in a fun and meaningful way, they are much more likely to grasp the concepts. We use learning games to not only practice our academic skills, but also to work on their social and emotional goals through turn taking and communication. They learn patience, respect for others and property ,as well as good sportsmanship.
